Tensor Cluster News

TENSOR DECOMMISSIONING

01Feb2008
The tensor cluster, at 4-1/2 years old, will be replaced early in the Spring 2008 semester. A new collaboration of researchers will be acquiring approximately 125 compute nodes at about 10TFlops total peak performance. Existing tensor users who were part of the original grant proposal will have access to a portion of the new cluster. We hope to have a test node available soon so you can begin recompiling your code for the new cluster. The exact date for shutting down tensor has not yet been determined, but is estimated to be late February to early March.

New /data Filesystem in Place

17Jan2008
A 250GB filesystem has been made available for /data. These disks are not new, and there's a good probability that they will fail, so be sure to move your data to another system as soon as possible after your batch jobs exit.
